Been There, Done That
Bubblegum teen pop that fails to leave a lasting impression

Just when you thought the world was safe from candy-eyed female artistes singing and dancing about turning sixteen, enter "The Lizzy Maguire Movie" star Hilary Duff's "Metamorphosis", the latest addition to this drudgery. Sounding like a cross between Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears, Ms. Duff goes one step further in proving that most artistes rely more on looks and image than actual musical and lyrical talent to sell a factory-processed imitation of what has already been overdone.

Taking off with "So Yesterday", the album begins with n lyrical drudgery, and musical monotony. The next song, "Come Clean", is a continuation of the same, although musically it is a bit more "mature" than the first song. Other songs in the album include the very wannabe "Little Voice" and the very bubblegum "Metamorphosis".

On the whole, it seems Duff is trying to break through as not only a commercial teen pop star, but also as an Avril Lavigne "rock chick". This album is definitely not suited for the "mature" listener, but will accomplish its task for the younger age group, and can pass off only for bubblegum teen pop culture, and nothing more.
