The good thing about DJs? They’ve managed to salvage some tunes from that unforgiving scrap yard in music sky, and then imprinted the new avatars into the dance floor cement strip.
The winners: Modjo’s “Lady”, L’il Bow Wow’s “Bow Bow”, “Indian Summer” by System F and the very retro “Groovejet” by Spiller. L’il Bow Wow is adorable with his kid rap and “Indian Summer” plays an incredible falsetto refrain in Hindustani off some wicked spins. The losers: “Star 69” by Fatboy Slim, “Another Chance” by Roger Sanchez and very definitely “Independent Women” (the Calderone Radio Mix). The unchallenged lords of this ring, though, have got to be “Smack My Bitch Up” by Prodigy and “Rock Da Funky Beasts” by Public Domain. Reasonably old, yes, but nothing moves like these do.
All sixteen spins guarantee heel burn…so add this one to your files ASAP!
